The door spring works well. The installation instructions were awful. Fortunately our shop is full of mechanics who could figure it out.

by:

prompt service setting up a commercial account and prompt shipping awesome customer service and tech support

by:

Very heavy duty spring, would not bolt up to my trailer as is l had to drill 2 holes in each bracket and bolt it on to my existing bracket, this spring is much more thicker and wider in diameter that's why it doesn't bolt up directly but it is a very easy modification.lm a bread man and l have a hallmark edge trailer with and extremely heavy door the spring it comes with works good but they only last about two or so.l don't think l will have to worry about changing the spring for a good long time, based on the size and the way it effortlessly handles the weight of the door.lf you will notice one of these springs way smaller and has a smaller bolt pattern notice on the other photo the ramp door is open anthe spring is barely stressed but the door is very easy to pull down and you can raise it up with one arm.

  • Recommended Ramp Door Spring for 6x12 Enclosed Trailer
When selecting ramp springs for a trailer ramp, you will want to know the diameter of your hinge pin and how much space you have available in the hinge. A typical enclosed trailer ramp uses 3/4 inch hinge pins and would require two ramp springs with a 3/4 inch inner diameter. The ramp springs that we carry fit 1-1/2 inch diameter hinge pins and are designed for use with heavy-duty steel ramps like those on equipment trailers or car haulers. The spring slips over the hinge pin and requires...

  • How To Choose Correct Ramp Door Spring for a Nitro Toy Hauler Trailer
The Conventional Ramp Door Spring part # CB250D96SHD is designed for a trailer door measuring 80" to 96" wide with a hinged weight up to 250 lbs. In order to confirm fit, you'll first need to measure your door end to end. Then, you'll need to find the hinged weight which is calculated by placing a scale on the ground in the center of the landing path of the door edge (no cables attached). If the weight is between 230-250 lbs per se then this would be a great option for you. If you have...

  • Trailer Ramp Spring Recommendation for a 66 Inch Wide Door
As you mentioned, we do offer the Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring - 81 Inch Wide, # ERS120D81. This ramp spring needs a minimum of 56 inches in order for the drums and cables to wind properly. With your rear ramp door being 66 inches wide, this ramp spring would work for your trailer. The weight capacity is 120 pounds. I pulled the Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring - 96 Inch, # CB250D96SHD, from our warehouse and also spoke with my contact at M-3 to see if there was any way that this would work...

  • Recommended Ramp Door Spring Assist For A 8 Foot Trailer
When installing a spring assist on your 8.5 foot wide trailer I recommend The Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 8 foot Wide Enclosed Trailer - Dual Spring - 250-lb Capacity # CB250D96SHD. This will work for you 8-1/2 foot because of where the springs actually mount. This dual-spring setup lets you easily open and close the ramp door on your enclosed trailer and eliminates the risk of it freefalling. It will fit trailer doors between 80 inches to 96 inches wide. It has a sturdy steel construction...

  • Enclosed Cargo Trailer Ramp Door Lifting Capacity Determination
The Conventional Ramp Door Spring # CB250D96SHD on your trailer is similar to that of a home garage. The best way to determine how much weight your current system is capable of lifting you can find calculators online or contact a garage door service company. The weight that the springs can lift are determined by the length of the springs, diameter of the coil, and thickness of the coil material. The kit that I have referenced is capable of lifting 250lbs of door. This means if you were...

  • Recommended Ramp Door Spring for 8 Foot Wide Enclosed Trailer
You'll want to choose a spring that's the same width as the ramp door. I'm afraid that the # ERS120D81 you mentioned would be too narrow. You'd want to use #CB250D96SHD, which is 96 inches wide. You'll have to take about 2 inches off each side of the pipe, but this would be your best bet. We HIGHLY recommend having the spring installed by somebody who's experienced with torsion springs. Tensioning the spring is a dangerous job that shouldn't be undertaken by somebody who's not familiar...

  • Can the Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring # CB250D96SHD Be Used to Replaced Haulmark Trailer Ramp
The Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring # CB250D96SHD has a 250 lb capacity and can be used on heavier trailer doors like what you have. If only one side of your spring is broke this would replace both sides. The installation instructions for this product are recommended for individuals who have experience winding torsion springs. If you have not worked with a torsion spring system before, we recommend contacting a local garage door company to install this system.

  • How are the Torsion Ramp Springs Weight Capacities Rated
The weight capacity of the Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring # CB250D96SHD that you referenced is the capacity of the spring as a whole. It wouldn't be listed as total ramp weight since the length of the ramp and hinge used would end up making that number hard to pin down. This assembly is rated for up to 250 lbs capacity.

Yes, you could trim down the ends of the Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring # CB250D96SHD to take it down to 80 inches minimum. If you need anything shorter, then I recommend using the 94 inch # 362SW81 instead to give you a few more inches to play with.

  • When Does the Spring Tighten and Loosen on an Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring
On a torsion spring like that on # CB250D96SHD when the door is opening downward the line is spooling out and the spring will get tighter. When the line is spooling in, closing the door, the spring will relax or get looser.
